The great model you see pictured was built by
John Linke
who bought the plans & put a baby bee .049 in it. Thanks to his fine workmanship you can see what can be done when you know how to build from scratch. He used precarved balsa from Sig for the wing. John's amazing model is not for sale.
Finding a Testors UC
PIPER VAGABOND
kit
PLAN
plus
instructional
sheet
has taken a long, long time. The 1/2-A kit only appeared for a short time back in the 1950s and then was discontinued. I had forgotten this until finding a 1954 ad on the cover of a Model Airplane News.
The Testors model wing span is 24" and the engine called for was the popular O.K. Cub. It was a completely die-cut, all balsa parts kit and some of the parts patterns are not on the Testors
PLAN
. Do not panic!
To help scratch-builders make their own parts patterns, I enlarged the 1950s
INFANT VAGABOND
UC model plan to a 24" span. My picture 7 shows BOTH the Testors
VAGABOND
PLAN
& the
INFANT VAGABOND
PLAN
with a yardstick to show that the two models are the same size.
